Turn On (The Beat Box)** (R. Lawrence): Mid-tempo danceable techno-funk. This is the only new track used on this album and
was released as single. This song was also included on the 1988 movie "Footloose II" and was a part of its soundtrack
album. At face value it would seem that Turn On (The Beat Box) would be destined to be hit, unfortunately it is just above
average music. Synthesizers make up most of the music including horns and drums. The vocals are decent with a lot of harmony
and Maurice White adding his distinctive vocal styling on certain parts, along with the light falsetto on the hook, it is
easy to identify this song as being EW&F. Still it suffers from the same vagaries as songs from the previous EW&F
album in that it is a little too conservative.
