Shining Star****[2:50](M.White, P.Bailey, L.Dunn): The first single release from "That's the Way of the World" is among the most recognizable singles of the 1970's. From the enticing bass and guitar intro to the mesmerizing vocal harmony at the end, is pure wonderment. The introductory bass and guitar melody reminds me of a lullaby from years past (Can you guess what it is?). Mid-tempo funk, hard drums that plead for you to race to the dance floor. Separate guitar riffs feeding off of each other. The bass at face-value sounds simple, yet is as complex as any of that time. Funk style vocals falsetto vocals along with lower toned voices gives the hook a lot of depth The horn section injects short bursts of euphonic explosions gathering momentum before culminating with a dynamic ultra-anthemic finish; Marvelous!
