Wait***[3:39] (M.White, D. Foster, A.Willis): Moderately slow tempo that's sensuously delivered from top to bottom. Nice piano
motif (a continual succession of 6/8 notes with deftly placed breaks) sweet strings and dreamy woodwinds give "Wait"
a lilt-like appeal. However, The full horn section, complex drum patterns and rhythm guitars are still there to add a little
edge. Maurice White delivers another dynamic vocal performance. The hook is nice and actually sounds more like a barber shop
quartet than any other EW&F vocal performance.
Considering the pop appeal of this ballad, "Wait" still found it' s way onto several R&B station play-lists.
It must have been the expressive way Maurice White croons the word "BABY". "(Which probably caused Marvin Gaye
to stop for a moment and say "Whoa!)".
