Eventually it was bound to happen. First-rate EW&F Co-lead vocalist, Philip Bailey released a solo album. This had been
building for 10 years and finally came to realization when Bailey released Continuation in the fall of 1983.
Longtime jazz vocalist/ pianist George Duke produced the eight tracks on the album and each song ranges from standout
to not too good.
Continuation starts out brilliantly with Bailey utilizing his trademark falsetto on good songs while changing to his natural
tenor voice without a hitch.
Popular songstress Deniece Williams (Let's Hear It For the Boy) lent her vocals as did the talented family act Sister
Sledge (We Are Family), to enhance Bailey's vocals. Unfortunately, there are hints of trouble, later in the album, with songs
that are not only obvious filler, but just simply bad songs.
Overall, the music isn't as complete compared to what most were used to hearing from Bailey when he recorded with EW&F.
Fortunately, the saving grace is the phenomenal voice of Philip Bailey
