7. I'll Write a Song For You****+(, P.Bailey, A.McKay, S. Beckmeier)[5:23]: Lead vocalist Philip Bailey was born in Denver,
Colorado and grew up in the 60's listening to folk music. During that era in Colorado (and in many other places), folk music
was the music of distinction. Flash-foward to the 1972 EW&F album Last Days and Time when the group performed the folk
standard "Where Have All the Flowers Gone" and Bailey sang lead with expertise. Still, it took another 5 years
for EW&F to revisit this style, and the group did it in grand fashion with the melodic acoustic guitar driven Bailey,
McKay and Beckmeier written "I'll Write a Song For You". Bailey again performs as lead vocalist and the background
vocal harmony is exceptional. Horns and strings add a dramatic touch, and with this ballad EW&F raised the bar higher
by taking a simple song and performing it masterfully.
