Maurice White |
4. Jupiter****[3:11] (M.White, V.White, P.Bailey, L.Dunn): Arguably the funkiest Earth, Wind and Fire jam of all. Hard-hitting
percussion, drums are at an 8/8 tempo. Scorching rhythm guitars, rapid yet expeditious bass lines, funky bottom-heavy clavinet
is enhanced by synthesizers. Swirling horns. Maurice White's urgent lead vocals mesh well with the frantic pace of the music.
There are several hooks, however the falsetto harmony in the middle hook stands out the most.
My only concern about Jupiter is if Maurice White felt compelled to start writing this jam after spotting a UFO?
Jupiter (joo' pe ter)
Part joker, part philosopher, you combine the animal magnetism and god like wisdom of your symbol, the half-horse half-human
Archer. You'd rather be an interesting person with many adventures than be rich or famous, but with lucky Jupiter in your
corner, you may do it all.
